Founders should be eager to learn and often are surrounded by folks in their network eager to help. By all means gather their advice. Recognize that those in your network have a natural "role bias". Expect it. Ask for advice from your investor and the investor will see the appropriate answer through their protect my invested capital/equity lens. Ask an insider or employee in your company about a concern or opportunity and their answer will tend to be formed through their protect my career lens. Role bias exists with partners, vendors, agencies, customers even legal council. Maverick Advisors has a "founders bias". We've been founders. We align with the interest of founders.
